For several years News 18 and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwestern Wisconsin have been working together to improve the lives of children in our community. Each week you can meet a child waiting for a mentor during on Tuesday's Child segments on Live at Five and News 18 Daybreak. From kindergarteners to high school students, these children are simply looking for a friend. Research shows children who participate in Big Brothers Big Sisters do better in school and are less likely to use drugs and alcohol. By giving just an hour a week, you can help these children and help make your community a better place.

Dakota is a fourth grader from Eau Claire. She says she enjoys reading, collecting stickers, but most of all Horses. Dakota says learning to ride is something she would really enjoy doing. She says she really enjoys school, and loves her teacher! Dakota says she has a list of things she would love to do with her big when she gets one, including just talking.

Austin is a fifth grader from Eau Claire. He has two big hobbies: playing on the computer, and playing video games. Austin says his favorite subject in school is Science, he says he likes to dissect frogs and do experiments. Austin says if he got a big, he would love a smart computer guy!

Dynasty is a first grader from Eau Claire. Dynasty says she loves birthday parties, especially the ones at school. Dynasty loves to play games, she loves to play with dolls and she loves Scooby Doo. Dynasty says if she were to get a big, she would like to have her meet her family.

Cali is a second grader from Eau Claire who has a great sense of humor and loves to smile. Cali has a long list of things she enjoys doing including: Double Dutch, recess, riding her bike, and putting together puzzles. Cali is the oldest girl in her family, she has two sisters. Cali says she enjoys playing with her sisters, but would like a big in her life to share different activities. Cali says if she were to get a big, she would love to go to the zoo!

Jacob is finishing up sixth grade and would love to spend his summer with a big brother.

Stacia is finishing up second grade and would love to have a big sister for the summer. She's passionate about art, music and science.

John is a third grader in Eau Claire looking for a big brother who loves sports as much as he does.

News 18 first met John last year when he was waiting for a big brother. He's still on the waiting list and would like to have a big brother to help him enjoy the summer.

Peyton is a first grader in Eau Claire who says his only experience with hunting has been through video games. He would love a big brother to take him out into the woods for the first time.

Victor is an Eau Claire sixth grader who has been waiting for a big for a while. We first met him in November, and, like a lot of boys in the program, he is still waiting for a big brother because of a lack of male volunteers.

Jayden is a second grader from Eau Claire who has a special love of soccer and ghosts.

Adam is in third grade in Eau Claire and has only two requests when it comes to getting a big brother. He wants someone to play soccer with him and to take him to Action City.

Ashley is a fourth grader in Eau Claire who loves math, gym, and would love a chance to check out Action City.

Eliot is in middle school and has been waiting for a mentor for almost a year and a half.

Mary is a Kindergartener in Menomonie who loves to laugh and has a lot of energy. She's very excited about getting a big sister.

We first introduced you to Nancy in 2005. After waiting almost a year she was matched with a big sister, but is back on the waiting list again. This little girl just wants a friend.

Cody is an Eau Claire student who is very excited about being matched with a big brother so he'll have another male role model.

Jordan is a third grader in Eau Claire who starts out shy, but opens up once you get to know him. He's looking for a big brother.

Nathen is a first grader in Eau Claire whose big sister no longer volunteers for Big Brothers Big Sisters. He's looking for another mentor and is hoping he can find a big brother this time.

Noah is a third grader in Eau Claire who is looking for a special friend to spend time with him.

Aaron is a high school sophomore who has been waiting for a mentor for three years.

Dakota is in sixth grade and would love to have a big brother to take him hunting and fishing.
