Eau Claire (WQOW) -- The first marathon in Eau Claire in more than 20 years is right around the corner.
This Sunday is the Eau Claire marathon, half marathon and 2 mile fun run. More than 1,000 runners from across the state have signed up to be a part of the races. Organizers say now they need to hear from people or businesses that can help along the 26 mile route.
Karen Drexel, the founder of the Eau Claire Marathon says, "If we can just have people come out cheer on the runners. This is very important for the runners it helps them get through to the next mile. And I want everybody to have a part of it."
The race is Sunday May 3rd. Runners have until Wednesday to sign up.
