
Jackson County (WQOW) - A house is being considered a complete loss after a fire Tuesday afternoon.
At 3:20 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, the Black River Falls Fire Department was called for a structure fire at 504 East Second Street in the Town of Brockway. On arrival, firefighters found smoke coming from the roof of the building.
The Merrillan Fire Department and the Hixton Fire Department were both called to assist with the fire. 24 Firefighters fought the blaze for five and half hours.
The building is considered a complete loss. The Black River Falls Fire Department also received assistance from Black River Falls EMS, The Town of Brockway, Black River Falls Utilities, WE Energies, and the American Red Cross.
There were no injuries reported.
The property owner is Theresa Grebinoski of Neillsville. The property was being renovated into three apartments and insured at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire has been determined to be a trouble light that was on and laying in blown in type insulation within the attic area.
The damage estimate at this time is $170,000.
