Apologies from sheriff after mistaken siren

Associated Press - July 2, 2009 6:54 PM ET

CHASKA, Minn. (AP) - Sheriff's officials offered apologies Thursday after emergency severe weather sirens went off accidentally in Watertown, Victoria and Chaska.

Carver County Sheriff Byron "Bud" Olson said repairs under way on the sirens caused them to go off in those communities.

He said the county's emergency management personnel and the city of Chanhassen are working to repair the system after a malfunction.
