MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Eighteen people were charged in federal court Thursday in connection with a large indoor marijuana growing operation that netted over 3,300 plants.
The defendants range in age from 22 to 58 and are from Brooklyn Center, Maple Grove, Blaine, Savage, Woodbury, Brooklyn Park, Austin, New Hope and Shakopee. They are charged with one count of conspiracy to manufacture at least 1,000 marijuana plants.
According to a Drug Enforcement Administration affidavit, on June 30 search warrants were executed in connection with a suspected large-scale marijuana conspiracy. At six locations, authorities found marijuana plants, lighting or other equipment used to grow the drug.
Authorities say in each residence, power was stolen by tapping into the electrical panel before the meter.
