Amery man in custody after fleeing scene of fatal hit-and-run

Eau Claire (WQOW) - An Amery man is in custody after allegedly fleeing the scene of a fatal crash. The crash killed Jason O'Malley, 24, of Minneapolis who was driving a motorcycle.

The Polk County sheriff says the crash over the weekend happened when Christopher Lyman failed to yield the right-of-way. O'Malley's bike collided with the van and hit two other vehicles.   He died at the scene.

After the collision, the sheriff says Lyman drove away from the scene. The van was damaged in the crash and was missing one wheel. He was caught about 2 miles down the road and was arrested for homicide by drunk driving.
