Eau Claire (WQOW) - With so many different ways to network, it can be tough for some to know the rules. That's one thing a local event addressed today.
A women's business networking meeting was held at Western Dairyland. A presentation was given about maintaining professional business communication when using things like Facebook or when you text. Experts say people have become lax with their language when texting or e-mailing, which could be seen as unprofessional when it's connected to their job.
Heather Rothbauer-Wanish, a business communication instructor at Globe University says, "What we're finding is that a lot of people are getting into texting, and that is carrying over into the e-mail, into the written communication, and even some of the verbal. So what I'm suggesting to people is to try to maintain professionalism at all times."
One example given was an intern at a business who added every employee he met as a friend on Facebook, which can be seen as unprofessional.
