UPDATE: Hayward man dies in Labor Day motorcycle crash

UPDATE: The operator of the Motorcycle has been identified as John D. Gouge, 59, of Hayward. 

In the original release, police believed Gouge was from Gordon.

Eau Claire (Press Release from the Sawyer County Sheriff's Department) - At 7:18 p.m. on  September 07, 2009, the Sawyer County Dispatch Center received a call reporting a motorcycle accident on Stone Lake Road in the Town of Sand Lake.   

Sawyer County Sheriff's Deputies, Washburn County Sheriff's Deputies, Wisconsin State Patrol, Stone Lake Ambulance and Stone Lake Fire Department all responded to the scene.  The operator of the motorcycle, a 59-year-old male from hAYWARD was pronounced dead at the scene by the Washburn County Coroner. 

Initial investigation indicated that the motorcycle was traveling North on Stone Lake Road and left the roadway at a corner just North of Moyer Road. The 1987 Suzuki Motorcycle traveled for a distance off the roadway and struck a plastic culvert. The deceased male was found lying approximately 4 feet from his motorcycle. 

Investigation continues by the Sawyer County Sheriff's Department.
