MADISON, Wis. (AP) - U.S. Sens. Herb Kohl and Russ Feingold have nominated two finalists for the vacant U.S. attorney's job in Madison.
Kohl and Feingold chose Assistant U.S. Attorney John W. Vaudreuil (VOH' - drey) and former Assistant Attorney General Eric J. Wilson. They came out of a field of 4 attorneys a nominating commission selected.
The senators sent the nominees' names to President Barack Obama on Monday. He will make the ultimate decision.
The winner will replace Erik Peterson, who left the U.S. attorney's post in June. Former President George W. Bush appointed Peterson in 2006.
The U.S. attorney in Madison prosecutes crime in Wisconsin's 44-county Western District.
