Jackson Co. (WQOW) -- A barn is a complete loss after a fire near Black River Falls Wednesday afternoon.  Some bystanders released nearby animals, but no injuries were reported.  Here is the press release from the fire department:

PRESS RELEASE

The Black River Falls Fire Department (BRFFD) was paged by the Jackson County Emergency Dispatch Center (EDC) Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at 3:37 p.m. for a barn fire at N4448 Cloverdale Road which is located in the township of Irving, Jackson County, WI.

The EDC stated at the time of the page out that a passer-by was reporting the fire and just a short time later the EDC reported that a neighbor had also called to report the fire.

Upon arrival of the BRFFD the 30'x60' wood / heavy timber barn / old grainy was fully engulfed in fire.

The parties driving past the fire released some dogs from a kennel next to the barn.

The structure is a total loss and was insured. Damage is estimated to be between five to ten thousand dollars.

No animals were lost in the fire and no injuries were reported while fighting the fire by any fire fighters.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.

The owner of the property Jamie Peterson was not home at the time of the fire.

BRFFD was assisted with two mutual aid tankers from the Melrose Fire Department, a DNR bull dozer which was used to spread out the burning hay from the structure and the Jackson County Sheriff's Department who provided traffic control and direction.

The department was on scene for 2.5 hours with a total of 16 fire fighters between all departments.
