Eau Claire (WQOW) - A fired city administrator is taking the city that fired him to court but he doesn't believe he'd get a fair trial in the Chippewa Valley.
Ron Singel was fired by the Chippewa Falls City Council after less than a year on the job. The mayor said he didn't meet their expectations.
Singel was accused of abusing work time. The city also gave him a written warning that indicated people smelled alcohol on his breath while on the job.
Singel is arguing his right to due process was deprived and the city has harmed his reputation.
Chippewa Falls wants the case to be heard at the federal courthouse in Eau Claire as opposed to Madison but if that happens Singel thinks the jury pool would be tainted. Since this is a federal lawsuit, the jury pool would be taken from the western Wisconsin district which includes 36 counties.
The jury trial is scheduled for next summer.
