Eau Claire (WQOW) - Efforts for peace are put on display at an Eau Claire school.
On Wednesday, students, teachers and parents gathered at Flynn Elementary for the dedication of a peace pole. The pole, which features the phrase 'May Peace Prevail on Earth' in four different languages, is a way for the school to make a big statement.
"Everything that we do, we try to make sure that we're building community, that everyone knows one another well, that everyone knows how to work together well and that we know how to solve problems in a safe and peaceful way," says Kimberly Hill Phelps, Flynn Elementary School principal.
Each class also made a stepping stone to be placed around the pole. The project was started by two kindergarten teachers who attended peace workshops in Minnesota.
