More details of the Dunn County drive-by shooting

Town of Rock Creek (WQOW) - Four people are in custody after a drive-by shooting in Dunn County.

It happened Wednesdsay night in the Town of Rock Creek near the Town of Rock Falls, which is southwest of Eau Claire. Several rounds were fired at a house. Thankfully, no one was injured.   Law enforcement says this was no random shooting.

News 18 spoke with family members about what happened. The home is owned by Sidney and Denise Hazen. They wouldn't go on camera but told News 18 three family members were inside when shots were fired at their house.

That happened after 8 p.m. Wednesday night. The homeowner says they heard six shots fired from the road and then called police. There are several bullet holes in the side of the house.   None of the bullets actually went through into the home.

Some people who live in or near the community say they were shocked when they heard what happened.

"It's scary, it's scary. We aren't used to having anything like this in the big metropolis of Rock Falls," says Jane Schager, a resident of Meridean.

The Hazen family says the suspects fired from the street into the house. They also told News 18 they may know those who are behind it.

That's a big reason why law enforcement said it appears the Hazen's were targeted. The question of course is why.

Law enforcement would not comment on a motive but we do know that two of the four suspects have drug convictions on their records.

Again, all four suspects are in custody. Spencer Weber and James Hutter were picked up early Thursday morning.

Johnathan Hutter and Tony Hurlburt were picked up Thursday afternoon. Weber and Hurlburt have been convicted of drug offenses in the past.
