Eau Claire (WQOW) - Just days after voting for a health care reform bill, Dave Obey makes a stop in Wisconsin.
On Saturday, congress voted in favor of a bill to reform health care. The $700 billion bill would help provide health insurance to 36 million more Americans. The bill narrowly passed the house. Now, it needs approval from the senate.
"I'm sure the senate will want to make some changes, but that's called democracy. In the end I think the house bill is much closer to being affordable by most middle income people," says Rep. Dave Obey, (D) 7th District.
In order to pass the senate, a health care bill needs 60 percent of the vote. Obey is still hopeful that lawmakers can get a bill to the president by the end of the year.
