GERMANTOWN, Wis. (AP) - The Grafton man accused of murdering his 14-year-old stepson is expected to appear in Washington County Circuit Court Tuesday.
Germantown police are recommending a first-degree intentional homicide charge against 37-year-old Charles Avey Sr.
The man's ex-wife, Krista Avey, tells WTMJ-TV that he told her he killed the boy to get back at his current wife, the child's mother. She had filed a police report against Avey for domestic abuse, saying Avey attacked her with a hammer. Krista Avey drove her ex-husband to the Washington County Sheriff's Department where he turned himself in.
Cody Reetz was found dead in a minivan in the parking lot of a Walmart story in Germantown Sunday. Police have not said how the boy died.
