
Eau Claire (WQOW) - The state launches a new program to help residents make a fresh start.
On Thursday enrollment began for the Wisconsin Fresh Start Program. Open to men and women ages 18-24, the program aims to help those who have a criminal history, alcohol or drug addiction problems, need better education or lack direction in their life.
The program puts them to work building houses in Rusk, Sawyer and Washburn counties for low and moderate income residents. The goal is to increase the self-esteem and self-sufficiency of participants.
Once done, the participants have new skills in construction.
