DNR installs deer carcass dumpsters

Eau Claire County (WQOW) - The DNR is hoping a new project will encourage hunters to clean up after themselves.

The DNR has placed two large dumpsters at area parks. Hunters can use these dumpsters to dispose of deer carcasses for free. Dumpsters are located at the Lake Eau Claire County Park and the Tower Ridge County Recreation Area. The DNR says each year they receive a number of complaints about carcasses being dumped in county parks and on the side of roads. They hope the dumpsters will solve that problem.

"When people see these piles of deer carcasses dumped in the woods I don't think it looks good for hunters, not a very positive image for hunters," says Ken Thompson a Wisconsin game warden. "So hopefully hunters will think about that and do the right thing."

The dumpsters will remain at the parks until December 6th.  The DNR says if the project is successful they plan on providing additional dumpsters next season.
