Wisconsin professor talks about Oprah's Announcement

Posted:

Green Bay (WQOW) - As you've probably heard, "The Queen of Talk" is calling it quits.

Oprah Winfrey announced Friday that she will end her world-famous talk show in September of 2011. That will make it a 25-year run for the Oprah Winfrey Show. A Wisconsin women's studies professor says Winfrey took the talk show format and made it her own.

"Oprah Winfrey took that form and made it much more personal, and of course she brings to the talk show format the experience and history of African-American women," says Aeron Haynie, UW-Green Bay professor.

The professor also adds that Oprah's influence is not just the content of the show, but also her own history.
