Eau Claire (WQOW) - An education outside the classroom appears to be sinking in with UW-Eau Claire students.
A new survey shows binge drinking is down. More than 400 students participated. Thirty percent say they don't drink.
For those who do, 47 percent reported binge drinking. That may not sound encouraging but consider this: 58 percent said they did in 2005. The number was even higher in 2003.
Binge drinking is defined as five or more drinks for men or at least four for women in a two-hour period. The director of the Center for Alcohol Studies and Education says one of their goals is to continue to develop programs specifically for students who fall into the high-risk groups for binge drinking, like young men and students who live off campus.
