EAU CLAIRE (WQOW) - As the formal complaints add up against a local police chief we wondered how often something like this happens.
Nine complaints, including four from his own officers, have been filed against Menomonie Police Chief Wayne Stolpa.
Among the issues, victims' family members are upset about the way Stolpa handled the investigation into the shootings in August. Two of his officers claim the chief initiated what they call "an unjustified sexual assault investigation."
A public hearing could be scheduled as early as Monday with the police and fire commission to go over the complaints.
News 18 checked in with the city of Eau Claire to find out how unique the situation in Menomonie may be in comparison. The human resources department says there have been no formal complaints filed against any member of the Eau Claire police or fire department in the past 2 years.
