LAS VEGAS (AP) - Carlton Fay hit two free throws with 2.5 seconds left, capping an improbable 13-point rally in the closing minutes Saturday as Southern Illinois beat San Diego 70-68 at the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic.
The Salukis (6-2) trailed 68-57 with 3:43 remaining before hitting three consecutive 3-pointers - two from Justin Bocot - and adding four freethrows to close out the come-from-behind victory.
With the score tied at 68, San Diego (5-7) missed a go-ahead shot attempt and Fay was fouled on the rebound, sending him to the line for the game-winning points.
San Diego did not hit a field goal over the final seven minutes, and was just 4 for 24 from the field in the second half.
Bocot finished with 22 points and Kevin Dillard had 17 for Southern Illinois.
Brandon Johnson led San Diego with 15 points. Roberto Mafra and Clinton Houston added 13 each.
