Sentencing's continue in million dollar drug trafficking case

Posted:

Jackson County (WQOW) - Two more people have been sentenced in a huge drug trafficking business in Jackson County.

On Thursday, Jason Gottschalk of Black River Falls was sentenced to 30 days in jail for drug charges. He will also be on probation for three years. In October 2009, Mary Bearfield of Hixton was sentenced to four years probation and must complete 80 hours of community service in the case.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Department arrested Gottschalk and Bearfield, along with four other people in February 2009, believed to be involved in trafficking more than $1 million in narcotics. The arrest happened in the Town of Brockway.

Deputies say they confiscated cocaine, THC, crack cocaine and prescription drugs. Ten law enforcement agencies were involved in assisting with the investigation.

Charges are still pending against other suspects involved.
