Eau Claire (WQOW) - There is some cutting-edge research in the works at an Eau Claire facility.
Friday morning, a researcher from UW-Milwaukee signed a lease to do his work at CVTC's NanoRite facility. The lights in the lab are orange because the materials are sensitive to light.
The researcher hopes to develop disposable blood testing devices that can instantly detect illnesses like hepatitis.
"So nowadays, when you're concerned you might have a certain illness, you'll go to your doctor and they'll draw a sample of blood," says Dr. David Klemer, UW-Milwaukee associate professor. "And you might have to wait two or three days to get the results back. You could conceivably that you could put a drop of blood on. Get an instant result."
CVTC's nano technology center is one of about a dozen in the country. It's one of only three on two-year college campuses.
