UPDATE: Driver airlifted to Luther Hospital after snowmobile crash

Menomonie (WQOW)- A 30-year-old man was airlifted to Luther Hospital after his snowmobile crashed into a tree Saturday night.

That accident happened west of Menomonie near Highway 29 in the Lucas Township around 8pm Saturday night. The Life Link helicopter, out of Rice Lake, was called to the scene. The Dunn County Sheriff's Department says the driver of the snowmobile was taken to Luther Hospital in Eau Claire, and is in critical condition.

No word yet on what caused the accident, but the Sheriff's Department says they do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
