State Rep. Jeff Wood released from jail

Posted:

Chippewa Falls (WQOW) - State Representative Jeff Wood (I-Chippewa Falls) has been released from the Chippewa County Jail.

Wood served 32 days in the Chippewa County jail for third offense drunken driving.  The local lawmaker was released at 5:58am according to a Chippewa County jail worker.

Following his arrested in 2008 in near Portage, Wood was sentenced to 45 days in jail.  A member of Chippewa County law enforcement says Wood was released early for good behavior.

Wood faces OWI charges in Monroe and Marathon Counties.  He has said he will not run for reelection this fall.  His term in the State Assembly would then run out January 2011.

WQOW News 18 had reached out to Rep. Wood, but has yet to hear from him.
