Eau Claire (WQOW) - Warren Petryk is running for the 93rd District which serves parts of Eau Claire, Pepin, Dunn, and Pierce Counties.
Petryk is a Christian minister of music, a UW Eau Claire graduate, and serves as community relations coordinator for United Cerebral Palsy of Western Wisconsin. He's running as a republican but sees himself more as a conservative. "It is time for conservative values to come back," says Petryk. "I've talked to hundreds and hundreds of people before I made the decision because I wanted to make sure that was the climate I was dealing with. With that amount of desire, on the part of the people to change, I really think we can carry this and get back to conservative values that so many people hold dear in the hearts."
Petryk joins republican Mike Conlin and Issac Weix in the race. Democrat Jeff Smith has held the seat since 2006. "I am proud of the work I've done to create jobs, boost local businesses, and support our schools, but there is more work to do," says Smith. "I am ready to run an energized campaign that is centered on the issues important to working families in the Chippewa Valley."
The primary is September 14th. Election Day is November 2nd.
