Tattoo artist charged with giving tattoo, MRSA to minor

Posted:

Barron County (WQOW) - Charges are filed against a tattoo artist in Barron County.  He's accused of illegally giving a tattoo to a minor.  Days later, that boy was diagnosed with MRSA.

Pete Schroeder from Cameron has been charged.  He used to work at a tattoo business in Barron County.  The health department says that business was shut down last fall when Schroeder and his co-workers were diagnosed with MRSA.

MRSA a drug-resistant bacteria that causes staph infections which can be very serious.  Then in June, a man says his 16-year-old son went to a home in Barron County and was given a tattoo by a man named Pete.  That teen was later diagnosed with MRSA.  Schroeder has been charged with tattooing children and two misdemeanors for allegedly violating health orders.
