Sex offender sentenced for battery conviction

Posted:

Eau Claire County (WQOW) - A sex offender is given probation after being convicted of battery in Eau Claire County.

Walter Mallett was sentenced to two years probation Monday. Last year, a woman accused Mallett of sexual assault at an Altoona apartment. She said during the alleged assault, the GPS he's required to have went off.

She said Mallett then stepped outside to make a phone call. When he did that, she locked him out. Mallett, who was convicted of sexual assault several years ago, was found not guilty of sexual assault in this case, but was convicted of battery.
