Eau Claire (WQOW) – Students in Eau Claire now have a healthier drink option at lunch.
The district is switching to chocolate milk with less sugar. Instead of 26 grams per half pint, the milk will have 23 grams.
"Chocolate milk is our best seller and certainly we want the students to take the milk, but we're also concerned about the amount of calories and sweet foods that students are eating, so we're working to make the meals as healthy as possible," says Sue Brown, Eau Claire Area School District Director of Food and Nutrition.
The district will pay the same price for the milk. The switch happened after school leaders heard some schools in Minnesota had made a similar change.
