Madison (WQOW) -- The Rosemeyer's are having a bit of a family reunion at the state football finals -- two of the brothers are coaching games (Robin with Gilman, Jeff with Colby), and the five other siblings are here to support.

Dean Rosemeyer, a football assistant coach at UW-Eau Claire says, "It's just a neat experience, and something that a lot of people don't get to experience, so we're very fortunate."

"It's a lot of fun," says Rod Rosemeyer, head coach at Durand, "it's a lot of excitement around the house right now, around the community of Gilman.  I'm glad to be a part of it."

"It's still about the kids, this whole thing," says Robin Rosemeyer, " but when you get an opportunity like this as brothers, it really does make it special."

Jeff Rosemeyer says, "To have two of us come down the same here, and to have that family connection, it's a rare thing, and I really appreciate it."

Robin & Jeff's father is undergoing cancer treatments, and is unable to attend Thursday's games.    Still, everyone agrees, Dad was proud of what his family accomplished.

Becky Rosemeyer says, "He's from the start wanted to make it to be down here, so we're here for him today."

"You know, it keeps us all occupied with football," Pat Rosemeyer says, "and then keeping him in the back of our minds too."

"I'm sure he's very proud right now," says Robin Rosemeyer, "especially of his grand kids. He'll watch the game today, and cheer Colby on, and it's just a situation where we're happy he can share this with us, as much as he can.

In a family this passionate about football, it should surprise no one that Robin and Jeff were getting plenty of advice from their siblings about how to win at state.

Rod Rosemeyer says, "You know, we do bounce ideas off and get advice from each other. I guess I need to get more advice from them than they do from me."

"All the brothers do a very good job of coaching," says Jay Rosemeyer, "and they do enjoy it. And regardless of what they say, during our family get-togethers, there is a lot of football talk.'"

Robin Rosemeyer's Gilman Pirates won the Division 7 title, with Jeff Rosemeyer's Colby Hornets finishing second in Division 5.
