Eau Claire (WQOW) - Two teens have been charged in the death of their infant daughter, after authorities found the girl unconscious in an Eau Claire apartment Wednesday morning. 19-year-old Tyreece Triplett is facing charges of first degree reckless homicide and felony child abuse. The infant's mother, 18-year-old Molly Campbell, has been charged with child neglect.

According to the criminal complaint Campbell had left the infant with Triplett Tuesday night around 11:00 p.m. Triplett said the baby began crying after Campbell left and he "freaked out". Triplett admitted to officers that he shook the baby and threw her against a wall. He explained that the baby then fell into the crib, and that he shook the crib violently. When Campbell returned to the apartment, Triplett told her the baby had fallen off the couch.

The complaint states that Campbell waited several hours before calling 911. Emergency personnel arrived to find the baby not breathing. The infant was transported by Medi Flight to Children's Hospital of Saint Paul, Minnesota. According to a nurse practitioner from the hospital, the child had sustained multiple skull fractures and was suffering from internal bleeding. The infant died as a result of those injuries on Thursday.

Triplett was recently charged with domestic abuse, and conditions of his bond required that he stay away from the apartment. The complaint also shows that when officers first interviewed Campbell, following the 911 call, she claimed Triplett had not been in the apartment. She told officers that she was home alone caring for the baby when the child had fallen off the couch.
