Chippewa Falls (Press Release from Fr. William Felix, Pastor of St. Charles Catholic Church) - At this time we still know very little about any further progress in the investigation; however, due to the response of people for the orphans at Casa Hogar Juan Pablo II in Peru, two checks will be presented to Fr. Roger Scheckel, director of the Missions Office of the Diocese of LaCrosse representing Fr. Sabastian Kolodziejczyk, director of Casa Hogar Juan Pablo II. These checks are estimated to approach $20,000, perhaps four times the amount of the original collection at Christmas.
Fr. William Felix, pastor of St. Charles Borromeo, will present one check, and Pastor Scott Miller of First Lutheran Church will present the second check of $4,000 as a matching gift from his congregation.
Fr. Sabastian has recognized a more-than-usual increase in donations on their orphanage website in Peru due to this story. He will send us an approximate report of those donations as well.
As an update, contributions have come in recently from as far away as Connecticut and Florida, with calls from Texas and California.
