Eau Claire (WQOW)- 13 chancellors say they want to see their schools gain more independence, but don't want to see UW Madison removed from the University of Wisconsin System.
The chancellors voiced their concerns in a letter to state legislators on Tuesday. Lawmakers are currently considering a proposal from Governor Walker that would separate UW-Madison from the system, in an effort to make it more competitive. Most of the 13 chancellors argue that move would instead weaken the system.
