ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton is increasing the amount of money from a state surplus that he's willing to spend for pressing state needs. Dayton says he wants some of the additional $100 million spent on broadband infrastructure expansion, additional prison staffing and court-ordered psychological examinations of sex offenders.

LITTLE FALLS, Minn. (AP) - A medical examiner says an 18-year-old woman was intoxicated on cough syrup when she and her cousin were fatally shot at Byron Smith's home in Little Falls. He also testified at Smith's murder trial that Haile (HAY'-lee) Kifer and Nick Brady were shot a total of nine times and some of the shots were from close range.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Amy Senser has been moved from a prison in Shakopee to a work-release program. She has finished the first part of her sentence for a fatal hit and-run and will remain in the work release program at least until late October. The wife of former Minnesota Vikings player Joe Senser could return home on supervised release after that.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - The NHL has suspended Matt Cooke of the Minnesota Wild for seven games for a hit that damaged the knee of Colorado Avalanche defenseman Tyson Barrie. Cooke has apologized for the open-ice collision and says he didn't intend to hurt Barrie, who will be out at least four weeks. Game 4 of the playoff series is Thursday night.
