Wisconsin men's soccer's quest for a national championship title has been fueled in large part by the team's pursuit of revenge. Legendary Wisconsin men's basketball coach Bo Ryan was inducted into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame on Saturday Night.  The ceremony took place in Kansas City, Missouri, as Coach Ryan is part of the 2017 class.  Ryan coached for 32 years at UW-Platteville, UW-Milwaukee and UW-Madison.  He coached the Badgers from 2001 until he retired at the end of 2015. Arkansas has fired athletic director Jeff Long after nearly 10 years at the school. The College Football Playoff selection committee member, formerly the chairman until this season, was under contract through June 2020. Badgers WR Cephus Out For Season

Star receiver Quintez Cephus will miss the rest of the season for No. 6 Wisconsin because of an injured right leg. Coach Paul Chryst said after practice Thursday that Cephus had surgery this week. The Badgers men's basketball team added Taylor Currie on the opening day of the early signing period. The 6'8" forward out of Clarkston, Mich. only recently committed to the Badgers. The Wisconsin women’s soccer team marched into Minneapolis Sunday afternoon and left with a 2-0 upset victory against the Gophers. Wisconsin's Hayton named to Richter Award watch list

Wisconsin senior goaltender Kyle Hayton is one of the 20 names on the watch list for the 2018 Mike Richter Award. The award, named after the former Badgers great, is given to the top goaltender in Division 1 men's hockey.

For the fourth time this season, Wisconsin's Dana Rettke has been named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week. Rettke led the Badgers with 12 kills at Iowa. Tickets for the Wisconsin men’s basketball Grateful Red student section went on sale Thursday, Sept. 14 at 7 a.m. CT. By 7:12 a.m., all 2,100 tickets were gone. With the sellout, the student section at the Kohl Center for Wisconsin basketball has completely sold out for 13 of the last 16 seasons. Wisconsin Men's Hockey announced the addition of goalie Kyle Hayton on Friday.  Hayton comes to the Badgers a graduate transfer from St. Lawrence where he was the ECAC Goaltender of the Year and a second-team All-American as a junior in 2016-17.  That year Hayton also established program records for career wins, appearances, saves, shutouts and goals against average. Freshmen Sydney Hilley and Dana Rettke led the No. 7 Wisconsin volleyball team to a 25-18, 25-19, 26-24 sweep of Louisville in the first round of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge on Friday night.  Hilley put up 36 assists and added four kills, three digs and one block.  Rettke led all hitters with 15 kills and had a match-high six blocks. The Big Ten bested all conferences in men's basketball attendance for the 41st consecutive season, totaling 3,119,823 for home and league tournament games. That's the most in Big Ten history. The conference averaged 12,235 a game across its 14 schools. Eleven of those ranked among the top 40 in average attendance, with Wisconsin leading the way at 17,286 a game.

Badgers prepare for longer camp

The Badgers football team will unofficially kick off training camp on Friday night. The team will host Family Fun Day from 6-8 p.m. at Camp Randall Stadium. That will be a light-hearted way to start an especially long preseason. The NCAA recently banned two-a-day practices in the football ranks, due to safety concerns. In order to make up for that lost time, the Badgers will be extending the length of training camp by about a week.

Wisconsin assistant Howard Moore says uncle shot and killed

Wisconsin assistant basketball coach Howard Moore says his uncle, Leroy, has been shot and killed in Chicago.    Moore said on Twitter that Leroy Moore was caught in crossfire on Tuesday night. Wisconsin senior Troy Fumagalli has been named to the preseason watch list for the John Mackey Award, which is given to the nation's top tight end.    Fumagalli had 47 catches for 580 yards and two touchdowns last season. The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed first-round pick T.J. Watt to a four-year contract.    Watt, a linebacker from Wisconsin and the younger brother of Houston Texans star J.J. Watt, was taken with the 30th overall pick in the draft. He is the last of Pittsburgh's eight draft picks to sign. Lavelle leads US women to victory over Sweden

Rose Lavelle scored in the second half, lifting the U.S. women to a 1-0 victory over Sweden in a friendly on Thursday night.    A perfectly timed run from the midfield by Crystal Dunn led to a through-ball for Lavelle inside the 18-yard box.
