Chippewa Falls (WQOW) - Chippewa Falls police are investigating a string of break-ins, one that happened just blocks from the police department.
Police say between last Friday and this Tuesday, five homes on the west side were broken into including one on Island Street, less than three blocks from the police department. Police say all five crimes happened in broad daylight.
"We don't have that many house burglaries to start with and when you get this many in a short period of time and the only things that were taken are cash and drugs, it definitely puts up a signal. And being during the day also tells us something, because the person isn't afraid of being seen by the general public," says Sgt. Bob Adams of the Chippewa Falls Police Department.
Again, the only things that have been stolen are money and prescription drugs. Police want to remind people to be on the lookout for any suspicious activity in their neighborhood.
There have also been burglaries at the Chippewa Manor Retirement home and Chippewa Family Restaurant, but police aren't sure if those two crimes are connected to the other break-ins.
