EAU CLAIRE (WQOW) - Some changes that have been ticketed for a local airport are now complete.
A ribbon cutting was held Tuesday for the completion of phase one of the multi-million dollar renovation at the Chippewa Valley Regional Airport. The first part of the project included expanding the secured and unsecured passenger waiting areas along with a number of energy-saving improvements.
The airport's manager says it will help give travelers a better first impression of the Chippewa Valley.
"It's the first thing they see when they come to our community and when they leave it's the last thing that's left in their mind and it's truly important to us to provide a good front door to our community," says Charity Speich, Chippewa Valley Regional Airport manager.
Phase two is scheduled to begin next summer. The project will consist of a boarding bridge and luggage carousel. It should be wrapped up sometime in 2011.
