Art on the Bus: Students view traveling artwork

Altoona (WQOW) - Great art can be very moving, but some student art in Altoona is literally moving.

"Art on the Bus" is a program designed to feature unique local art on city buses. Pedersen Elementary in Altoona is participating in the program for the first time, and Thursday students got a chance to check out their traveling artwork. The creator of the program says it does more than bring art to the community.

"It helps promote riding the bus, it's saving people money. We want to make the buses friendly and friendlier and approachable, and we want everyone to know that there's Art on the Bus," says Paula Gorski, creator.

"I worked really hard on it and a lot of people from Altoona can see my art on the bus," says Donovan Adrian, 8-year old artist.

The artwork on the buses will stay up for a year. The program has been running for five years, and organizers say participation continues to grow.
