
Eau Claire (WQOW) - A fake check has an Eau Claire man facing a fraud charge.
Scott Dollarhyde is accused of cashing a fake U.S. Treasury check of more than $14,000.
According to the criminal complaint Dollarhyde cashed the check last month at the U.S. Bank in downtown Eau Claire. He took some in cash and put the rest into his account.
About a week later the U.S. Treasury Department notified the bank that the check was fake. Dollarhyde will be in court next month.
