Town of Lucas, Dunn County (WQOW) - A fire destroys a home in Dunn County.
It happened in the Town of Lucas around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. No one was home at the time of the fire which was called in by a neighbor. When fire crews arrived flames were shooting out at all sides of the house. The fire chief says a metal roof made the fire difficult to fight.
"It wasn't able to vent so the fire was really contained within the home, it wasn't able to self vent itself through the roof. And of course we had the complete roof collapse and that was a concern because of the involvement of the fire," says Fire Chief Jack Baus of the Menomonie Fire Department.
Because of the damage Chief Baus says it may be hard to determine what caused the fire. The people who lived there will stay with nearby relatives for the time being.
