Man Killed in Accident with Saw

New Richmond (WQOW) - A Cadott man has been killed in an industrial accident.

It happened on Tuesday in New Richmond.  Police say Eugene Hakes was using a saw to cut water mains when the saw kicked back and caught him in the neck.  Hakes died.  He was 33.  OSHA is investigating.

Hakes worked for A-1 Excavating out of Bloomer.  That company was recently cited by OSHA for allegedly violating safety standards on a trench job in Weston.  OSHA is calling for almost $700,000 in penalties.  A-1 is contesting the citations in that case.
