Chippewa Falls Drug Bust: Dog Attacks Officers, Has to be Put Down

Eau Claire (WQOW) - A dog has to be put down after it attacked police officers during a drug raid in Chippewa Falls.

It happened Thursday. The Chippewa Falls Police Department along with the Joint City/County Tactical Team assisted the West Central Drug Enforcement Group with serving serarch warrents at three residences in the city. They are: 605 Bridgewater Ave., 607 Bridgewater Ave., and 28 E. Birch Street.

During the incident one of several dogs found at the 28 E. Birch Street residence attacked officers and had to be put down.

According to Lt. John W. Liddell of the Chippewa Falls Police Department, two people were taken into custody.

On 05-28-09 the Chippewa Falls Police Department and the Joint City/County Tactical Team assisted the West Central Drug Enforcement Group with serving of search warrants at three residences in the City of Chippewa Falls. These residences were 605 Bridgewater Ave., 607 Bridgewater Ave., and 28 E. Birch Street. During the serving of the search warrant at 28 E. Birch St., officers encountered several dogs, one of which was vicious. The vicious dog attacked officers and had to be destroyed.

While serving the search warrants two people were taken into custody at 607 Bridgewater Ave. and three people were taken into custody at 28 E. Birch St. No one was taken into custody at the 605 Bridgewater Ave. address.
