Lake Wissota to host ice fishing tournament

Chippewa Falls (Press Release) – The North American Ice Fishing Circuit (NAIFC) will be in Chippewa Falls on Lake Wissota from January 22-24.   Activities will begin on Friday with a free seminar by Jim Hudson, Professional Guide, followed by a free Kids Ice Camp and USA Ice Team Qualifier on Saturday, and then concluding with the main NAIFC tournament on Sunday.

The Chamber is excited to be hosting this event due to the unique nature of the activities included in the tournament. The Friday night seminar will give participants a chance to talk one on one with professional fishermen and get insights into their tricks and tips. The Saturday Kids Ice Camp will educate kids on ice fishing and allow them to get out onto the ice to try fishing for themselves. The USA Ice Team Qualifier will give fishermen a chance to qualify for the USA Ice Team, which will hold its' World Ice Fishing Championship in March in Rhinelander.  Finally, the Sunday tournament will provide amateur and professional fishermen a high level of competition with the top 10 teams at each tournament automatically qualifying for the NAIFC Championship in December.

"This event is a great opportunity to get locals involved with a professional level tournament and will also showcase Chippewa Falls and what we can offer visitors year round," remarked Allyson Gommer, Tourism Director with the Chippewa Falls Area Chamber of Commerce.

Also, from January 22-24 a film crew will be out filming and producing the "Lake Wissota" episode of the reality TV show "Ice Men"  which will air on VERSUS in February.
