John Beard anchors 27 News' weekend evening newscasts.

John is a native of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, but he and his family are proud to call Madison home. They love the city, the people and even the weather! 

John and his wife, Amy, and have two children, Alex and A.J. If you see them out enjoying all the area has to offer, he says you should come up and say hello.

Since arriving in Madison, John has worked with the local chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society(LLS). John is a lymphoma survivor, and he and his family raised more than $10,000 in just over two months during the 2011 LLS Man and Woman of the Year Campaign. They also stay involved with the annual LLS Light the Night Walk and various Team in Training endurance events that benefit LLS.  

Most of John's hobbies involve sports. He enjoys playing basketball, baseball and fantasy baseball. John also spends some time rooting on his childhood favorites: the Atlanta Braves and New Orleans Saints. John and his wife both graduated from LSU, so they catch a few Tiger games as well.
