Grant money to help build new homes for low-income residents

Madison (WQOW) - Grant money will help build new homes for low-income residents in western Wisconsin.

The Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA) Foundation is handing out $500,000 statewide. Some of that will go toward construction of a handicap accessible home in Chippewa Falls for a single mother with two disabled children. The funds will also be used to construct two homes in Eau Claire and Jackson Counties, a home in Shell Lake and duplexes in Bruce and Hayward.

Benjamin's House Emergency Shelter in Rice Lake will get $15,000 to renovate a building that will provide shelter for 15 individuals and families.
