Madison (WQOW) - It's been an unusual year in Wisconsin politics, and here is one more example: The state's Republican party is giving money to a candidate who's running as a Democrat.
Isaac Weix is running as a protest candidate in the 10th Senate District recall election. He's a Republican running as a Democrat to force a primary against Democrat Shelly Moore.
The incumbent, Republican Senator Sheila Harsdorf, raised almost $328,000 through the end of June. Moore has brought in $237,000. Weix has raised about $1,200, including a contribution from the Wisconsin GOP.
The primary between Weix and Moore will be held Tuesday, July 12. The general election will happen in August.
