MADISON (WKOW)--Penny Duane and her son Dylan learned their first Project Money lesson the hard way.
"After I looked at everything I had, I could see the huge amount for out to eat. $400 a month. I didn't have a clue it was that much," said Penny.
Adding up a month's worth of receipts revealed hundreds of dollars going to fast food. The solution: plan meals, shop for groceries, cook.
"I had to ask Dylan what he liked to eat that I could make. It was really fun. What you realize is that, you put down the main thing, but then there are other things like fruits and vegetables."
