Pierce County car accident kills Ellsworth teen


Pierce County (Press Release from the Pierce County Sheriff's Department) - On 10-16-11 at 3:27 pm, Pierce County Sheriff's Department was notified of a one vehicle accident on CTH A at 385th St. in Salem Township. The vehicle was discovered by a passenger on its top, partially submerged in the Rush River. The operator of the vehicle, Blake Flanigan, age 16 of Ellsworth, had been travelling southbound on CTH A when the vehicle partially left the roadway on a curve and entered the west ditch. The vehicle was driven back onto the roadway where it crossed over the northbound lane, entered the east ditch, descended the embankment and overturned in the river. Rescue units were able to pull the vehicle upright where it was discovered that the operator was inside. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. Assisting the Sheriff's Department at the scene were Ellsworth Area Fire and Paramedics, Maiden Rock/Plum City/Stockholm Area Ambulance and the DNR Warden. This accident remains under investigation.
