Eau Claire (WQOW) - A weeklong series of events is drawing hundreds of middle and high school students to UW-Eau Claire.
Higher Education Awareness Week looks to bring in students from both Minnesota and the Chippewa Valley. The goal is to get kids thinking about college. Among the events taking place are academic workshops, campus tours and meetings with faculty members. The event's coordinator says presentations like this one help open student's eyes to education after high school.
"We definitely have students that weren't really thinking about it but went because it might have been a free field trip for them," says High School Coordinator Kristi Herbenson. "Now they realize that's really an option available to them and so they are taking the necessary steps to get to college."
More than 40 students participated in Thursday's campus visit.
