UPDATE: Authorities identify victims in Chippewa County crash

Chippewa County (Press Release) - Chippewa County authorities have released the names of the two people killed in a crash Wednesday morning.

Richard D. Andres, 44, of Holcombe, was driving the Black 1998 KIA Sport Utility Truck northbound on S-Hwy 27 prior to the accident. The second driver, Jeffrey A. Hebard, 58, of Ladysmith, was driving the black 1999 Chevrolet Truck southbound on S-Hwy 27 prior to the accident.

The accident remains under investigation to determine the cause. The Chippewa County Sheriff's Department did receive a call from a individual Wednesday evening who reported that he witnessed the accident.  That person will be interviewed.

Chippewa County (WQOW) - Authorities say two people are dead following a crash in Chippewa County.

The two-vehicle crash happened on Highway 27 and 270th Avenue, just north of Holcombe, around 7:15 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The State Patrol says a pickup truck was traveling south on 27 when it crossed into oncoming traffic, colliding with a small SUV, nearly head-on.

Two people died from their injuries; a 44 year old male from rural Holcombe and a 58 year old male from Ladysmith. No names have been released.

The State Patrol is working with the Chippewa County Sheriff's Department to reconstruct the crash.

Both lanes of traffic were closed for about an hour while crews cleaned up.

VICTIMS: 44 year old male from rural Holcombe; 58 year old male from Ladysmith

The Chippewa County Sheriff's Department received a call of a 2 vehicle traffic accident on S-Hwy 27 just north of 270th Ave in the town of Lake Holcombe at approximately 7:15am this morning.  The initial investigation indicates that the vehicles involved were north and south bound on S-Hwy 27, with one of the vehicles traveling left of center causing the collision. The traffic accident investigation prompted the Sheriff's Department to close Hwy 27, detouring north and south bound traffic for over an hour. Both drivers were pronounced deceased at the scene.  The drivers were the lone occupants of the vehicles.

The traffic accident remains under investigation by the Chippewa County Sheriff's Department, being assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol. At this time the investigation has determined that there were no witnesses to the traffic accident, in event someone was a witnesses, the Chippewa County Sheriff's Department is asking them to notify them at 715-726-7700.

The identity of the victims will be disclosed upon completion of notification of the immediate families.
